ELDERS

The seventeen elders who comprise our Elder group have committed themselves to service within the body of Christ. They believe God has called them to be shepherds to our congregation and servants to various ministries throughout the church, with prayer, encouragement, help with resources, and active participation.

THE ELDERS COMMITMENT

1.  The Elder is committed to a certain “order” of life regarding the spiritual life as a follower of Jesus Christ.
The Elder is growing in making his/her number one priority in life the Kingdom of God.  Therefore, discipleship to Jesus Christ is what impacts the Elder’s “order” for life rather than life impacting the Elder’s discipleship to Jesus.  Since the process of being discipled by Jesus is the priority for the Elder, the Elder is very intentional about ordering his/her life around the priority of being discipled by Jesus through the Holy Spirit, by means of various spiritual exercises that are practiced in a very strategic manner.

2.  The Elder will oversee the various ministries within the church.
Each Elder will help oversee 2-3 ministries in the church body.  There will be 3-4 Elders in place to oversee each area of ministry within the church.  The Elder will not necessarily be the leader of a particular ministry but will be a servant leader with the other Elders overseeing that particular area of ministry to support the ministry leader in whatever areas needed by the ministry leader.  The Elder is encouraged to oversee the areas of ministry for which he/she has a passion and heart.

3.  Attend all Elder’s meetings.
The Elder is expected to attend all Elder meetings and to make the Elder’s meeting of utmost importance.  The Elder’s will meet quarterly to pray together, abide together, and to share ministry reports regarding the areas of ministry they are overseeing.
